Exporting Opt-in Email List Subscribers
Step-by-step directions for exporting your email contact lists for permission email marketing or email newsletter subscriber lists vary between email and email marketing software programs.
We've included instructions for exporting email address lists for some previously popular (and now less popular) email contact and email marketing software programs. If the program you are upgrading from is not listed, please let us know. We may have instructions we can provide you by email.

Constant Contact
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from Constant Contact:
- Click Contacts.
- Click Export.
- Select Active Contacts to export a master email list.
- Alternatively, select one category from the dropdown menu.
- Repeat these instructions for each additional category you wish to export.
- Select Information to Export.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Export as CSV button and save the file.
- Follow the instruction for My Subscribers > Add Subscribers or send the file to support@jbanetwork.com as an attachment if you would like for us to upload your list. Please let us know to which category or categories you would like us to add your list.
Act!
You may use email addresses for which you have obtained permission to add to your mailing list.
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from Act! by Sage:
Add contacts to an email list Group:
- Create a new Group.
- Name it Newsletter Subscribers, Email Marketing List, or some other name you can easily identify later as your opt-in email list.
- Add Contacts to the Group and Save.
To export your contacts from ACT! as a .CSV file, please follow these instructions:
- From the File menu in ACT!, select Data Exchange > Export. This will take you to the Export Wizard.
- From the File type drop-down list, select Text-Delimited (default choice). Click on the "..." next to the Filename and location box.
- At the top, in the Save in pull-down menu, select the directory where you want to place the exported file. For file name, type in a file name such as "Email-List-from-Act" and add .CSV at the end (for example, Email-List-from-Act.csv). The Save as type pull-down menu should display Text - Delimited (*.CSV). Then click Next.
- Select Contact records only. Click the Options button on the right side of the window to view Export Options. Set the field separator to comma. Click the box to select Yes, export field names. Then click OK.
- Click Next in the Export Wizard.
- Click All records and click Next.
- Remove all fields that you do not wish to import into MyNewsletterBuilder.
- Click Finish. The new text file should be now be in the location that you indicated.
- Follow the instruction for My Subscribers > Add Subscribers or send the file to support@jbanetwork.com as an attachment if you would like for us to upload your list. Please let us know to which category or categories you would like us to add your list.
- Be sure to specify whether items like first/last name, etc, need to be added as well.
If you are using ACT! 2006, follow the steps below instead:
- Click the File menu, and then click Export. The Export Wizard will display.
- If desired, enable the "Check to hide in the future" option and click Next. The Specify Destination dialog box appears.
- Ensure that Text Delimited displays in the "What type of file do you want to export to?" field.
- Click the Browse button at the Filename and location field. An Open dialog box appears.
- Enter a name into the File Name field and select Comma Separated Values (*.CSV) in the Save as type field. If necessary, browse the Look in field for the location you want to save the file and then click Open. The Specify Destination dialog re-appears.
- Click Next to proceed to the Specify record type(s) dialog.
- Select Contact records.
- Enable the appropriate "Which records do you want to export?" option:
- Enabling Current Record is the contact record currently viewable in the ACT! Contact Detail screen.
- Enabling Current Lookup is the current list of contacts displayed under the Contact List.
- Enabling All Records will export all records of the selected type (Contact, Group or Company) in the Database.
- Click Next to proceed to the Specify export options dialog.
- Enable either the Comma or Tab options in the Select field separator section. If you would like to export field names, enable the Yes, export field names option, and then click Next. The Contact, Group, or Company Map appears, based on the option you selected in step number 7.
- Follow the instruction for My Subscribers > Add Subscribers or send the file to support@jbanetwork.com as an attachment if you would like for us to upload your list. Please let us know to which category or categories you would like us to add your list.
- Be sure to specify whether items like first/last name, etc, need to be added as well.
Apple Mail
You may use email addresses for which you have obtained permission to add to your mailing list.
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from Apple Mail:
- Log into your MyNewsletterBuilder account and go to My Subscribers > Add Subscribers.
- Download a special third-party tool for MacOS X users, such as Email Address Book, Address Book Exporter, eMail Extractor, Address Book to CSV, or dozens of other free, demo, and shareware programs that provide this feature not currently included in Apple Mail.
- Use this tool to export your email addresses from your Apple Mail address book.
- Follow the instruction for My Subscribers > Add Subscribers or send the file to support@jbanetwork.com as an attachment if you would like for us to upload your list. Please let us know to which category or categories you would like us to add your list.
Gmail / Google Mail
You may use email addresses for which you have obtained permission to add to your mailing list.
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from Gmail / Google Mail:
- Ideally, export Selected Opt-in Email Lists.
Option 2, Exporting Selected Opt-in Email Lists from Gmail.
- Alternatively, export All Email Addresses and then edit your exported list to remove address that are not part of your opt-in email lists.

GoDaddy Web-based Email
You may use email addresses for which you have obtained permission to add to your mailing list.
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from GoDaddy Web-based Email:
- Click Address Book.

iContact / intelliContact
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from iContact:
- Click My Contacts.
- Click Browse Contacts.
- Under Actions, click Export.
- Choose to Export all or select contacts using the dropdown menu.
- Click the Save Contacts to a File button.

- Select Subscriber Fields to export.
- Click Export Contacts button and OK to save the exported contacts file as export.csv.

Hotmail / Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail

- Click Options.
- Click More Options.

Microsoft Outlook

How to export Opt-in Email Lists from Microsoft Outlook:
These instructions are specifically for Outlook 2003, but they will work for most versions of Outlook with few or no modifications.
- In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
- Click Export to a file, and then click Next.
- Click Comma Separated Values (Windows), and then click Next.
- In the folder list, click the Contacts folder, and then click Next.
- Browse to the folder where you want to save the contacts as a .csv file (desktop is recommended).
- Type a name for the exported file, and then click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.

Yahoo! Mail
You may use email addresses for which you have obtained permission to add to your mailing list.
How to export Opt-in Email Lists from Yahoo! Mail:
- Login, click Options at the top right.
- If you see Mail Options click that, otherwise, skip this and the next step.

- Click Contacts on the left side of the next screen.

- Click Address Book on the left side of the next screen.
- Click Import/Export in the Management column on the right.

- Scroll down to the Export section.
- Click Microsoft Outlook: Export Now button (the easiest option to import) and save the file on your computer.
Step 6, scroll down to the Export section. Step 7, click Microsoft Outlook: Export Now button to save the file to your computer. (Exporting Opt-in Email Lists from Yahoo! Mail)
Edit it with a spreadsheet program to have just the email addresses in one column with nothing else...no column header needed. Resave. Upload under My Subscribers > Add Subscribers > Add addresses from a file.
If you want to upload details with the addresses, let us know and we'll assist you. We can take care of it for you - just let us know the recipient category to upload to, such as the "General" category or another Subscriber Category.
