Google Analytics Tracking

Google Analytics Tracking allows you to see which subscribers visit your website and what they do once they arrive.

Domains for Google Analytics Tracking – mynewsletterbuilder.com default example
Add as many domains as you wish to this text area. Domains must contain a period and may not begin or end with a period. Domains must be on their own lines with no protocol (no http://) at the beginning and no path or filename (/whatever/whatever.html) at the end.

For example, www.google.co.uk, google.co.uk, and co.uk will work in this field for any link included in the domain, but .com or com will not work.

You can use a domain to include subdomains. For example, jukeboxalive.com will include links to username.jukeboxalive.com.

How does Google Analytics Tracking work?

MyNewsletterBuilder Google Analytics Tracking automatically adds tags to the end of your email links.

These tags are read by the Google Analytics Tracking (GAT) script you have added to your website.

To use Google Analytics Tracking on your own website, you will need to install the tracking script. Please see the Getting Started Guide under Analytics Help at Google Help > Analytics Help.

Many websites already have Google Analytics Tracking installed. If you have questions about whether Google Analytics Tracking is installed on a website you are linking to, please ask the webmaster. You can also view the page source for the website homepage and search for "_gat", "google-analytics" or "_utm". Google recommends that the tracking code get installed near the bottom of the page.

How are the Google Analytics Tracking tags set with MyNewsletterBuilder?

For every link pointing within a domain that you specify, MyNewsletterBuilder adds the following tags:

  • utm_medium=email – always the same.
  • utm_source=MyNewsletterBuilder – always the same.
  • utm_content=email@example.com – unique to each subscriber.
  • utm_campaign=The+Newsletter+Subject – unique for each sent email newsletter.
  • utm_term=The+Link+Text – unique for a link within an email newsletter.

When you are done editing, remember to click the Save button at the bottom of any section to save your changes.
