Content Editor
Default selections for creating email newsletters: WYSIWYG HTML Content Editor Mode, AutoSave Editing, Editor Warnings, and optional email newsletter Content Sharing authorization code.
AutoSave
With this feature, your work can be preserved in case of computer crash or Internet connection failure.
Enable AutoSave – Checked by Default
There is no reason we can think of to turn off this feature.
AutoSave Timer – Every 10 Minutes by Default
The AutoSave typically causes a one to two second delay in displaying what you are typing while your draft email content is tranmitted to our server. Some users have slower computers and may notice a slightly longer delay.
If you want your draft email marketing content to be saved more often, set the AutoSave Timer to a higher number, such as 15, 20 or 30.
If you want your draft email marketing content to be saved less often, set the AutoSave Timer to a lower number, such as 5.
Content Editor Mode
If needed, select one of three modes: Plaintext (text only), Raw HTML (text and code) and Rich Text (the best web-based WYSIWYG HTML editor ever).
Rich Text – for WYSIWYG Editing – the Best Option for almost everyone – Rich Text by Default
- Edit your newsletter content with an easy-to-use <a title="What You See Is What You Get">WYSIWYG</a> <a title="Hyper-Text Markup Language">HTML</a> editor.
- Apply formatting using familiar <acronym title="What You See Is What You Get">WYSIWYG</acronym> word processor tools for style, font, and color.
- Add links using a simple button.
- Email-merge subscriber data, sender data, and custom library content into your emails using a simple token dropdown button.
- View and edit HTML source code whenever you want - or never. Knowledge of HTML is entirely optional.
- Our Rich Text Content Editor Mode is built with a current release of <acronym title="Tiny Moxie-Code Content Editor">TinyMCE</acronym>, the leading open-source web-based <acronym title="Hyper-Text Markup Language">HTML</acronym> editor.
- Current releases of <acronym title="Tiny Moxie-Code Content Editor">TinyMCE</acronym> automatically clean up HTML content pasted from external programs like Microsoft Word and Outlook, so you no longer have to remember to use a Paste from Word button to avoid a bug in Microsoft Word’s <acronym title="Hyper-Text Markup Language">HTML</acronym> engine that causes content pasted from Microsoft products to disappear for subscribers using Microsoft Outlook.
- Our competitors cut costs by upgrading their editors less often. For example, VerticalResponse and StreamSend are curently using out-of-date versions of TinyMCE that require you to remember to use a special Paste from Word button to fix this issue, making it easy to accidently use the regular paste commands and send out emails with embarrassing results. iContact has cut costs by not upgrading their editor to the current industry leader. Their system is built a feature-lagging "WYSIWYG Pro" brand editor which also requires a Paste from Word button. Constant Contact has put significant resources into building their own editor from scratch, but this editor also lags behind in compatibility.
- Our Rich Text Content Editor Mode also supports AutoSave, which is unique to MyNewsletterBuilder. This seemingly basic feature is not available in Constant Contact, iContact, Vertical Response, StreamSend or any other email marketing program we’ve seen.
Raw HTML – for HTML Code with No Code Cleanup
- This mode allows you to enter <a title="Hyper-Text Markup Language">HTML</a> code directly into content areas.
- This mode will not remove HTML that is incompatible with email programs.
- This mode is provided mainly for backward compatibility with old email newsletters using raw HTML code that may have compatibility issues with current web-based email clients but are just fine for publish-to-web e-newsletter archives.
Plaintext – for Typing with No Formatting
- This mode accepts plain text only, so that you can paste or type content directly into each article as if you were using a typewriter or simple text editor. There are no font, style, or color controls. Use the keys on your computer keyboard to type your article content.
- Your newsletters will still be valid email HTML newsletters. Any font and color options you select in your newsletter templates will be applied to the plain text.
- All non-standard (non-<acronym title="American Standard Code for Information Exchange">ASCII</acronym>) characters will be converted to their HTML code equivelents. New lines will be converted to HTML <br /> tags to preserve spacing.
Editor Navigation Warning
Enable Editor Navigation Warning – Checked by Default
By default, we warn you if you are about to leave the five step-by-step Create Newsletter process without saving your work. This warning dialog box can be quickly dismissed by hitting the enter or return key or clicking the Okay button, which will tell the editor to allow you to discard your work and will remove AutoSave copies, if any. This warning may be turned off here by unchecking the selection.
Content Sharing
Authorization Code – None by Default
This code can be a phrase or other code to prevent other users from importing your newsletter and library content using your username alone.
When you are done editing, remember to click the Save button at the bottom of any section to save your changes.
